This website is supplementary to the mathematics practicum of the Utrecht School of Economics.
The site deals with Functions and Differentiation. These topics are part of the national curriculum mathematics A1,2 for basic secondary education at VWO level in the Netherlands. A degree on this level is a condition to be admitted to the Utrecht School of Economics. The purpose of this site is therefore to refresh your knowledge.
On this site we review how to:
- do computations on power, exponential and logarithmic functions,
- draw graphs of functions and find significant points such as intersections,
- find derivatives of power, exponential and logarithmic functions,
- work with applications.
The topics are presented in this way:
- first you explore a certain problem,
- then the mathematical principles behind the problem are explained,
- and finally, you practice some more.
Exploring the problems and actually doing the exercises yourself is part of the educational approach on this site. So to be able to understand what is presented here, you need to put some time in it.
